Music Organizations

The following are music organizations. Check them out, you may find one you want to join.

ASCAP: The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. I am hoping to become a member of this society in the near future as a composer. ASCAP works primarily to make sure that you recieve royalties for each performance of your copyrighted pieces. Check it out if you are intending to become a composer, lyricist, or publisher (or all three, if you want to). It is the largest musical society in the world, to my knowledge.
New Music Box: This site is an attempt to raise the public's awareness of new music in the world. Contemporary music is often forgotten in the attempt to raise the classics to greater heights. This site offers articles on various topics concerning new music, ranging from microtonality to alternative rock.
