Music Links
The following are all pages that contain links to sites that have information on music - either as online stores, manufacturer sites, or even other personal sites.
- Instruments and Accessories
- Mail-order sources and manufacturers of instruments and accessories. These range from Woodwind and Brasswind (an online/mail-order store) to Selmer/Bach's homepage. You should be able to find a good deal on what you're looking for somewhere in these.
- Sheet Music
- Who can play music without the sheet music in front of you (excepting, of course, those who've already memorized the music or are simply improvising)? Therefore, you need to buy sheet music. These are links to companies that specialize in tracking down the exact piece and publisher you are looking for.
- Recordings
- It's all fine and dandy to play a piece of music, but it is always nice to hear someone else's interpretation of it. Here is where you'll be able to find some of those "less-popular" genres like Jazz and Classical.
- Instrument Specific
- These sites are sites devoted specifically to a single instrument, such as clarinet or trombone. Even if you don't play that specific instrument, it is always interesting and helpful to know how other instruments work.
- Music Theory
- Ahh, that dreaded two word combination that sends shivers down the spines of music majors. These sites are listed not to torment you, but rather to provide extra information you may need or simply want to know.
- Symphonies and Orchestras
- The name says it all.
- Local Groups and Venues
- Local for me means the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul), Minnesota, U.S.A. If you're going to be in town, or are simply curious, check these out.
- Music Organizations
- ASCAP and beyond.
- Music Link Indexes
- Seems pretty self-explanatory.
